Mohammed Siraj Sets Twitter On Fire With 8-Wicket Haul Against Australia A
Mohammed Siraj, on Sunday, blew away Australia A with his career best figures of 8 for 59 as the visitors were all out for just 243 despite Usman Khawaja’s brilliant 127 in the first unofficial India A vs Australia A Test.
Deciding to bat first, Australia A were off to a solid start. Kurtis Patterson and Usman Khawaja added 78 runs before Mohammed Siraj decided to change his bowling end to the pavilion end just before lunch. He came to bowl his second spell when only three overs were left before lunch.
He went on to take three wickets in two overs before the interval to put the hosts on top. He then returned to take five more wickets from the same end to finish with 8 for 59. It was his third five-wicket haul in his last four first-class innings. Siraj has not looked back since a not-so impressive outing in this year’s Indian Premier League. He has now taken a staggering 37 wickets in just 8 innings.
Coming to the game, Siraj started his wicket-taking spree by first dismissing Patterson for 31. And in no time, he single-handedly reduced Australia to 90 for 4 from 78 for 0.
Travis Head, Peter Handscomb and Mitchell Marsh returned to the pavilion without bothering the scorer much. While Head scored a couple, Handscomb and Marsh even failed to open their accounts.
Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne then stopped the rot for a while. But just when Australia were looking to get on top, Siraj struck again to dismiss Labuschagne for 60, ending a fine 114-run partnership. Siraj also removed Michael Neser and Chris Tremain for ducks.
Khawaja, on the other hand, held firm from one end and scored 127 to guide Australia to a respectable total. He became Siraj’s eighth victim as Australia A were all out for 243.
Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to react to Siraj’s latest performance with the ball.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Siraj’s performance:

At another part of the world, Mohammed Siraj took 8/59 runs against Australian A side.
He is doing in bowling what Mayank Agarwal is doing in batting.

Mohammed Siraj causing havoc. 8 wickets against a decent Australian A team. Shows how Indian fast bowling has come along. 86 wickets at an average of 19 indicates he should be in the main squad #ENGvIND #INDIAA

With all the attention on India England match, Mohammed Siraj is quitely making a name for himself with his India A performance. 8 wickets for him. Wouldn't be surprised if he is on the flight to Australia. #INDvENG

Mohammed Siraj has just taken 8 wickets on Day 1 against Australia A at Bengaluru. Australia A having Khawaja, Head, Handscomb and Marsh in the team. Looks like he'll be getting a Test call up soon.

I am happy to see Ambati Rayudu finally getting recognised for his efforts. Rishabh Pant’s omission is surprising. Khaleel Ahmed got recognition for all the hard work he has been doing but where is Mohammed Siraj?? He has done extremely well in domestic cricket.

Still no place for Krunal Pandya and Mohammad Siraj after so many good performances. Need to rethink the selection @BCCI #TeamIndia #AsiaCup2018 #ENGvIND
