Former Pakistan stumper and skipper, Moin Khan has backed his nation to lift the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.
However, the prestigious trophy arrived in Pakistan (Karachi) as a part of its trophy tour where Moin Khan was present. Speaking during the event, Moin shed light at the prospect of Pakistan’s chances in the 2019 World Cup. He feels the Men in Green has it in them to win the quadrennial event next year.
Meanwhile, Moin Khan lauded the skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed and felt he has to lead from the front, as his performance will be crucial to his side’s chances in England.

Moin Khan feels Sarfraz Ahmed will play a crucial role for Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup
“Sarfraz is a wonderful player and a good leader,” he said. “I think Pakistan really has a good chance to clinch the title as conditions will be helpful for them in England. Sarfraz has to perform well in the upcoming World Cup. His performance in the tournament will be crucial for the team,” said the 47-year-old who was part of many memorable triumphs for the Asian Giants in the yesteryears. Also, Moin was part of the World Cup winning squad back in 1992.
However, the ex-wicketkeeper batsman recalled his memories from Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup victory and the inspirational leadership from their skipper and the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. Moin said it was an honour for him to be present during the event and discuss some of the old memories. He recalled how they made a strong comeback after the first two-three games.
“It is an honour for me to be present here and it reminds me of some old memories,” he said. “We won the World Cup 1992 under the leadership of Imran Khan. We had only three or four points on the board after playing two to three matches. But we went on to win the tournament due to his leadership skills.”
