Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Moin Khan feels Pakistan should keep the current skipper Sarfraz Ahmed as the leader until the 2019 Cricket World Cup to be played in England.
Pakistan is one of the most unpredictable teams in the world cricket. Their performances in the recent months have been full of ups and downs. Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 in England defeating India comprehensively in the final of the tournament.
Pakistan then white-washed Sri Lanka in the UAE 5-0 and continued their dominant form in coloured clothing and then also defeated the Lankans in the T20 series.
Their domination in the ODI format continued until they went Down Under to face New Zealand a five-match ODI series. Kiwis then thrashed Pakistan 5-0 in the ODI series.
However, Pakistan then bounced back in the three-match T20 series and won the series 2-1 to become the number one ranked T20 side in the world dethroning New Zealand in the ICC rankings.
Moin Khan believes the Pakistan board must keep faith in Sarfraz and not be in a hurry to change the captain, as Sarfraz is the best option in the current side to lead the team. Moin said,
“Sarfraz is someone who leads from the front and gives his hundred percent for his country on the field. He was the unanimous choice of fans and critics across Pakistan to lead the team in all the three formats last year and should be given all the backing now so that he could lead with confidence and build up a competitive team for the next year’s World Cup in England,”

Moin also said the fans are being too critical of the team’s performance in New Zealand,
“It was this very approach of Sarfraz, that people are finding faults in, which won us the high-profile Champions Trophy in England last June where again the team bounced back after a heavy defeat against India,”
Sarfraz was appointed the captain of the Pakistan national side in all the three formats after Azhar Ali stepped down from the post in February 2017.
