Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has sent the fans wild by proposing an exhibition match between PSL and Indian Premier League (IPL) after the completion of the ongoing IPL 2020 in UAE. He also proposed that the venue for the exhibition match should be UAE.

The thirteenth edition of the IPL is taking place in UAE due to the alarming coronavirus situation in India. IPL 2020 started on September 19 and as expected, it has been a huge hit. Despite the games being played in empty stadium, there has been absolutely no dearth of entertainment as the teams have already played out some T20 classics.

The final of the tournament is scheduled to take place on November 10. And Javed Afridi is hopeful of an exhibition match between the two leagues following the completion of IPL. He also said that the game could be played as a fund raiser for COVID. He took to Twitter to express his idea, writing:

“HOW ABOUT “PSL vs IPL” ? Venue: UAE”

The tweet from the PSL franchise owner sent the fans wild but the possibility of such a game taking place this year is highly unlikely. The bilateral relation between India and Pakistan is at an all time low. With Pakistan government failing to stop cross-border terrorism, Indian government has suspended all of its ties with them.

The arch-rivals have not played a full bilateral Test series since 2007 when Pakistan visited India for three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. They played a short series of three ODIs and two T20s in India in December 2012, but otherwise, both have faced each other only in the ICC organised events or the Asia Cup.

India and Pakistan last locked horns in the 2019 World Cup when the Men in Blue thrashed the Men in Green. In such a scenario, it is highly unlikely that such a game will take place.

However, it did not stop the fans from showing their excitement from the same. In fact, not only the fans but former Ireland batsman Niall O’Brien could not hide his excitement:
