MS Dhoni is in the thick of things for his performance in IPL 2020 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The veteran batsman has displayed dip in his form even though he tries to give his cent per cent everytime he steps on the field. His form began to dip since the 2019 World Cup in England where his strike rate and ability as a finisher was consistently questioned.

CSK, on Friday, came agonisingly close on chasing down the target but missed out with MS Dhoni at the crease. However, former India spinner Pragyan Ojha has backed MS Dhoni in the tough times and wants other players to also contribute for the side.

In a team game, a single guy cannot do everything: Pragyan Ojha

“In a team game, a single guy cannot do everything. He cannot lead you, score runs consistently so everybody has to contribute.

“Had they not lost early wickets in the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad or Kedar Jadhav would have batted the way we wanted him to bat, I don’t think MS Dhoni would have played those Rashid Khan overs carefully because he cannot afford to lose his wicket.

“Had he lost his wicket you wouldn’t have seen Ravindra Jadeja get his 50, he got it because MS Dhoni was there at the other end. Dhoni at every stage has given his best,” Pragyan Ojha said on Sports Today.

Dhoni remained unbeaten on 47 runs off 36 balls as CSK lost the match by seven runs to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). CSK have made the worst-possible start to the IPL campaign and are currently placed at the bottom of the table with one win from four matches.

The former India captain made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.
