MS Dhoni Becomes 2nd Wicket-Keeper With 200 or More Dismissals in T20 Cricket

Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni on Wednesday, became only the 2md wicket-keeper in the world with 200 or more dismissals as a wicket-keeper in T20 cricket which includes international fixtures and also global T20 tournaments and domestic T20 tournaments. Dhoni achieved the feat during the opening T20I against Sri Lanka at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Dhoni affected as many as four dismissals yesterday which elevated him to the 2nd position for wicket-keepers with most dismissals in T20 cricket. The list is headed by former Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal who has a total of 207 dismissals to his name. 3rd in the list is former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara with 192 dismissals while another India international Dinesh Karthik with 167 dismissals occupies the 4th spot. Dinesh Ramdin is 5th in the list 152 dismissals.

The Men in Blue produced an exceptional performance at the Barabati Stadium yesterday and registered a comprehensive victory by 93 runs. It was Dhoni who played a stellar knock towards the fag end of the innings and remained unbeaten on 39 of 22 deliveries which included four fours and a huge six in the final delivery of the innings which propelled the hosts to a competitive score of 180/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

It was opener Lokesh Rahul who got the team off to a fluent start and was eventually dismissed after making 61 of 48 deliveries. Dhoni and Manish Pandey gave the much-required impetus during the final few overs. Manish struck a couple of colossal sixes as he remained unbeaten off 32 of 18 deliveries which included a couple of fours and sixes each.

The Lankans were never in the match as they kept losing wickets on a consistent basis. Leggie Yuzvendra Chahal who has been impressive in the recent past continued his good run and returned with impressive figures of 4/23 in his allotted four overs. Jaydev Unadkat also bagged his T20I wicket while all-rounder Hardik Pandya also chipped in with 3.
