MS Dhoni or Rohit Sharma? The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League may not get underway anytime soon thanks to the novel pandemic coronavirus (nCOV) but that is not stopping fans and pundits to debate on its various aspects. The latest debate that has embroiled in the last few days is around the best captain in the history of the cash-rich league among the aforementioned names.
Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai India are the two most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League. The two sides, under the leadership of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have won seven of the 12 seasons. While Dhoni has been the most consistent captain in the tournament’s history, leading his side to the playoffs in every single season, Rohit Sharma has more titles to his kitty.
Former New Zealand fast bowler and someone who has commentated in almost every season of the Indian Premier League, Danny Morrison has picked MS Dhoni as the best captain in the history of the lucrative T20 competition. According to Morrison, the vibe around Dhoni and the way he has soaked up pressure while leading the Men in Yellow, is what makes him such a great leader.
“Looking at the vibe and the inspiration of that fellow (MS Dhoni) in yellow and what he did for India in blue and that helicopter shot which changes the course of the game… yes he is a lot older and finishing up (and) Rohit’s got more time. But for me Dhoni takes the pressure like no one else,” Danny Morrison was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
