MS Dhoni Is Bowlers' Captain, Virat Kohli Aggressive: Laxman Sivaramakrishnan

A captain’s approach is crucial for any team. He can set the tempo of the side and even lift or guide them in difficult situations. MS Dhoni and his predecessor Virat Kohli are completely different to each other as captains and both have been successful in international cricket in their own ways.

Dhoni has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer. Kohli took over in 2014 and he has only grown as a captain. He likes the ruthless approach in his side and has become the most successful Test captain for Team India.

Former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has watched the stories of Dhoni an Kohli unfold from the commentary box. He says both are different captains, while Kohli is expressive, Dhoni can hardly be read as he hardly shows emotion. He also added that Dhoni is a bowlers’ captain, for the way he has guided them from behind the stumps while Kohli is an aggressive skipper.

“Both are different captains, Virat is more of an aggressive and expressive kind of captain and MS is quite laid back and you can hardly read from his facial expression and what his body is speaking about. But MS Dhoni is more of a bowlers’ captain which is a big advantage for any bowler,” Sivaramarkrishnan told The Times of India.

At present there is a lot of speculation regarding to the future of MS Dhoni. He did not feature in a match since 2019 World Cup nor has let anyone known about his future. He continues to remain silent.

Kohli, on the other hand, is at home maintaining his fitness regime.
