CSK captain MS Dhoni wanted his side to practice being inside bio-bubble environment before departing for Dubai in anticipation of the IPL 2020. The decision was majorly taken as most Indian cricketers have stayed away from cricketing action in the last four months due to the pandemic situation.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that when it was announced that the tournament will be conducted in UAE, he asked Dhoni about conducting the camp in Chennai, and the captain straightaway said that it is a must for the players to understand the situation. Viswanathan also added that Dhoni was crystal clear with his thoughts.
“When we announced the tournament is going to happen, I had reservations about conducting the camp here because the bio-bubble had to be created. In fact sent a message to him (asking) whether it will be worthwhile having a camp for 5 days before going to Dubai. But the captain was crystal clear in his thoughts,” Viswanathan said in a YouTube video for CSK.
“He (Dhoni) said ‘sir, we have not played for nearly 4-5 months. All of us need to get together in Chennai. We should be in a bio-bubble in Chennai so that we get used to that when we land in Dubai’.
“And also it helped in the boys getting in shape. This camp, though we had some reservations, has really helped. I am very happy we were able to host the camp.”
MS Dhoni had begun preparations for IPL 2020 in a month advance. However, the novel coronavirus pandemic situation, disrupted the scenes with the IPL 2020 now set to get underway in September in UAE.
Dhoni made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.
All the success has made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he is on the field
