When MS Dhoni Dated 'Julie 2' Actress Raai Laxmi

While every detail of Mahendra Singh Dhoni‘s cricketing career is well known to the world, the calm and composed Indian star has always managed to keep his private life away from the spotlight.  Had there not been an biopic made on him, very few would have known about his life away from the cricket field. The film showed how Dhoni scaled unprecedented heights after coming from humble backgrounds and also showed his love life. But prior to the release of that movie, the fans had received a huge shock when actress Raai Laxmi made a sensational claim that she was in a relationship with the former India captain.

But the matter soon disappeared from the scene, much to Dhoni’s relief. However, with Raai Laxmi’s debut Bollywood film ‘ Julie 2’ all set to hit the theaters in the coming days, the actress as well as her past relationship with the former India captain is once again in focus. Dhoni is yet to speak on the topic but the actress has continuously insisted that she started dating Dhoni during the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008. Dhoni was the captain of the Chennai Super Kings and Raai Laxmi was serving as the brand ambassador for the franchise.

“I’ve begun to believe that my relationship with Dhoni is like a stain or a scar which won’t go away for a long time. I am surprised that people still have the energy and patience left to talk about it even now. Every time TV channels dig into Dhoni’s past, they make it a point to bring up our relationship. I dread to think that someday my kids in future will see it on TV and ask me about it!” Laxmi had  told The Times of India.

There were speculations that her part would be shown in Dhoni’s biopic and when asked about that she had said:“I hope not. Though there was an indirect approach to knowing the story from my side I have not given any such consent so they cannot claim a relationship existed unless they take names in the film.”
