MS Dhoni's Childhood Mentor Deval Sahay Passes Away In Ranchi

Former Indian captain, MS Dhoni’s childhood mentor, Deval Sahay, has passed away in Ranchi due to a multiple-organ failure in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Sahay, who was credited for preparing first-turf pitches in Ranchi, was 73 and is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. His funeral took place at around 01:00 PM in Ranchi.
Sahay had been infected by a coronavirus and was discharged from the hospital on October 09. However, he was once again admitted after he complained of breathing problems due to post-Covid complications.
“After spending about 10 days at home, he was again admitted to a hospital when he developed complications. And today at around 3 AM he passed away,” Deval Sahay’s son Akshay Sahay told news agency IANS.
Deval Sahay was the first one to provide MS Dhoni an opportunity
MS Dhoni’s father used to work at MECON. Deval Sahay was the one who hired a young MS Dhoni on a stipend, providing him the opportunity to play on turf pitched.
