MS Dhoni Helped Me Evolve As Cricketer: Washington Sundar

MS Dhoni has groomed plenty of cricketers under his captaincy. His ability to read the game and take decisions helped him emerge as one of the finest captains on the international circuit. Besides that, MS Dhoni has achieved everything in an ICC event, which a captain can ever dream of.

At present Dhoni is not in the finest of his form. But continues to groom cricketers not only from the CSK franchise but also from other teams. Youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mayank Agarwal and even KL Rahul were seen picking up Dhoni’s brains during the IPL 2020 as he seeming shared important tips with them.

Mahi bhai helped me evolve as a cricketer during my RPS days: Washington Sundar

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Washington Sundar has delivered decent performances for his side in IPL 2020. He is is growing in his game with his experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic circuit. He made his debut in IPL under Dhoni  and said that it helped him evolve as a cricketer.

“The fact that I played in RPS under Mahi bhai helped me evolve as a cricketer and since then I have been learning and evolving as a bowler as well,” Sundar said on the eve of RCB’s match against Kings XI Punjab.

“Obviously, the dream is to play for India across formats. I have been working hard on my bowling, batting and fielding,” he added.

Bowling under the shadow of India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, the 21-year-old has an astonishing economy rate of 4.90 this season, even ahead of Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan (5.03).

RCB have got to a good start in the IPL 2020 and are in contention to qualify for the playoffs. The Bangalore franchise have the record of reaching three finals. RCB entered the final match last time in 2016 but since then they have been at the bottom of the table. Moreover, in 2019, the franchise finished last with just 5 wins from 14 matches.
