MS Dhoni has cleared the INR 1800 crore dues related to the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA)-life membership, the association secretary Sanjay Sahay confirmed. The amount levied on the former India captain was on the account of the GST attached to his life membership with the association.
Sanjay Sahay however confirmed that the matter has been closed and there has nothing more to be added after the payment came in. He mentioned that Dhoni’s dues came to the fore during the year-end audit report.
“The matter has been closed. There is nothing more to add to it. That status existed till March 31. But after that the payment came in so the matter has been closed,” Sahay told the Times of India.
“The audit report is supposed to run till 31st March of every year. So that is how it (Dhoni’s dues) came to light. The payment has already come in and we have accepted that, hence the matter is completely settled,” said Sahay. It was, however, not confirmed if Dhoni himself made the said payment.
Sahay also took a dig at activist Sesh Nath Pathak who had reached out to the association along with four others to settle Dhoni’s dues. He said that such people are out to look after their own interest and garner media attention.
On the workfront, Dhoni will be next seen in action leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2020 in UAE.
