It was a brilliant overseas tour for Indian stalwart Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The former skipper showed that he is still capable of winning the matches for the team with his incredible ability. Meanwhile, there raised uncertainty over his batting position, as he has been the finisher over the years. Meanwhile, Michael Hussey sheds light on Dhoni’s importance.
Last year, Dhoni managed only 275 runs from 20 ODIs without scoring a fifty. In Australia, Dhoni hit three fifties from three ODIs and won the man-of-the-match series.
Dhoni was criticised for his slow 51 in the first ODI in Sydney but he bounced back with an aggressive 55 not in Adelaide before scoring 87 not out in the series decider in Melbourne.

MS Dhoni is like a computer while chasing – Michael Hussey
Speaking of MS Dhoni, Michael Hussey quoted that the presence of him in the Indian National Cricket Team is a must for the ICC World Cup 2019. He believes that the former skipper of the team will bring a lot to the table with his batting and experience.
He went on to add saying that Mahendra Singh Dhoni can play at any position for the team. Personally, Hussey believes that Dhoni can still deliver the goods in the finishing role but also understands that his presence is middle-order is also a vital aspect to consider.
”MS Dhoni can play at any role for the team. He can take the role as per the team balance. Personally, I like to see him in the closing role. He got so much of power in him. I can also see the value of him bring earlier into the batting because he takes a little bit of time and looks after the bowlers,” Hussey said to Cricbuzz.

”He is so good at the run-chases. He is so good at managing things. We saw him in Australia, he was incredible. He is like a computer thinking that we can play here and we don’t need to panic here. No Need to take risks here and now, its time to go. He is just like a calculator. So, he is an invaluable part of that Indian team. He is experienced and doesn’t forget his wicketkeeping,” Michaell Hussey inferred.
Well, it would be interesting to see how team management would come to a conclusion of MS Dhoni’s batting position. Perhaps, they might continue him in the regular number 5 position, in which, he had success in Australia.
