India’s chief selector MSK Prasad has stated MS Dhoni is the best wicketkeeper in the world. Dhoni is back in form and MSK Prasad is delighted that he had decided to back the former skipper. There were questions raised over the form of MSD in 2018 when he struggled to rotate the strike. However, Dhoni was able to turn the tables in 2019.

Dhoni scored three half-centuries in the three-match ODI series against Australia. The right-hander amassed 193 runs in the three matches. Subsequently, he was awarded the Man of the series award. Dhoni had scored a quickfire knock of 48 runs in the second ODI against New Zealand.

MS is back in form.

Dhoni was at his best as he rotated the strike with aplomb. The former Indian skipper batted with aplomb and his return to form is a big boost for the side.

MSK Prasad said while talking to Sportstar, “I am absolutely happy to see Mahi among the runs and winning the Man of the Series award for his batting performance in Australia. I have also always said that he is still the best wicketkeeper in the world. Apart from that, he is hugely experienced and brings a sense of calmness to the team in crunch situations. The chemistry between Virat and Mahi is only going to help the team in a major event and I can openly say that they have huge respect for each other”.

On the other hand, MSK Prasad revealed the secret behind building the bench strength of the team. The shadow India A tour before the crucial tours has helped the players in adding more confidence to their bag. Subsequently, the Indian team has some good selection headaches.

“Of course! It is always good to have a healthy headache rather than go searching for alternatives and back-ups. Again, due credit should be given to the shadow ‘A’ tours that we planned prior to every major series. Ravi Shastri, Rahul Dravid and I, along with my colleagues, had several discussions about the way forward. We all think alike and I am sure you can see the progress of players from India ‘A’ tours to the senior team. This has been the key to developing a good bench strength”.

India will like to continue their good show in all the three forms of the game. On the other hand, MS Dhoni has been a massive player for India and he has all the experience under his belt. Dhoni is like a guiding light to the young players and he is going to play a key role in the upcoming World Cup.
