Exclusive: I'm Huge MS Dhoni Fan, Wanted To Play Under Him: Paul Valthaty

MS Dhoni influenced a lot of cricketers including the likes of Paul Valthaty. Dhoni made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.

All the success has made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he is on the field. And Valthaty, who once scored a century in IPL against CSK, regrets not sharing the dressing room with Dhoni.

Valthaty told Cricket Addictor that he has always been a big fan of Dhoni and wanted to play under his captaincy. He also added that he looked up to him and just wanted to share the dressing room to understand his way of conduct better.

“I was always a huge fan of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, so I always wanted to play for the CSK if I even got an opportunity…. Dhoni was one I always looked up to, I couldn’t play under him. He is someone whom I would have loved to share the dressing room with, just get in to his frame, what kind of movement he chooses to attack or defend,” Paul Valthaty told Cricket Addictor in an exclusive interview.

MS Dhoni understands the game well. He knows the strength of the side and backs his players accordingly. He does not takes any kind of frivolous decisions and likes to maintain his calm. It is due to these qualities Dhoni comes up as one of the most calm and composed character on the cricket field.
