Throughout his career, MS Dhoni has taken up multiple roles and seldom failed in those. He was a captain, and till his final match for the national team, the 38-year-old was the wicketkeeper and a very dependable lower-order batsman. And despite his growing age and hard-hitting abilities on a downhill, MS Dhoni remains a frightening prospect for bowlers, especially during the death overs.

The former Indian captain hasn’t played for India since the 2019 World Cup in July against New Zealand. With India struggling against the Kiwi pacers in the semi-final, MS Dhoni was one of the men in the Indian outfit, who kept them in the hunt. However, a brilliant direct hit from Martin Guptill saw his back to the dressing room for 50. The ball before that went for six over deep backward point, and one thought that the Jharkhand cricketer would do it again for India.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings’ pacer Deepak Chahar indulged himself in a conversation with Irfan Pathan and Jatin Sapru on Star Sports. A fan posed before him a question of what would be Chahar’s strategy to bowl to MS Dhoni at the death. Deepak Chahar has emerged as a bright prospect not only for Chennai but also for India. The 27-year old pacer recorded the best bowling figures by any bowler in a T20 international in November 2019.

At hearing the question, Chahar claimed that he had the same talk with his captain at the IPL franchise four days ago. The Uttar Pradesh-born seamer said that at underlining the options of a wide yorker and slower bouncer, the 38-year old thanked him for letting him know due to the upcoming auctions. Both these players would have been in action for the three-time champions if not for the COVID-19 pandemic that has endangered lives around the globe.

I asked Mahi bhai this question just four days ago. He said the knuckle-ball will be a good option. But I know he would easily smack a knuckle-ball really far. Then I said, wide yorker and wide slower bouncer can be good options against him. He was like thanks for letting me know, the auction is coming.”
