Kevin Pietersen is one of the most-loved foreign cricketers in India. It is due to his sheer respect for India’s cricketers and his fearless demeanour at the crease. Having been the first player from England to bag an IPL contract, Pietersen began changing England Cricket Board (ECB) towards T20 leagues. The IPL 2009 saw the South African-born ending up as the costliest player alongside Andrew Flintoff.

Even when retired, Kevin Pietersen remains in the news and is often outspoken about various issues surrounding cricket. The former Indian captain himself has stayed mum on the same, having last played for the national team in the semi-final of that tournament which India lost.
And like many former and current cricketers, Kevin Pietersen has plenty of respect for the 38-year old. A month ago, the 39-year old hailed Dhoni as the greatest captain ever. Pietersen underlined all his achievements as a leader and it’s tough to ignore the same. India captured the 2007 ICC World T20, 2011 World Cup, and the Champions Trophy in 2013 under him. He also oversaw Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles:

“I think after what MS Dhoni has done for Indian cricket, he decides when he wants to hang up his boots, no one else.” Pietersen said as quoted by Times Now.
