In the absence of Dhoni, the Indian National Cricket Team has tried quite a few options to get the finisher of the team, who could win the matches for the team. However, it is still the work in progress, as the team management is still figuring out the options. Amidst this, MS Dhoni reveals the success mantra of him to bat at number 6 for India.
Over the years, MS Dhoni has been the finisher of the Indian team playing at number 6. He has got massive numbers for the Indian team at that slot, delivering match-winning performances more often than not. Speaking of the same, MS Dhoni explained the importance of being practical at number 6 slot.
In his career of 297 innings, MS Dhoni played at number 6 for 129 times. During the course, he remained unbeaten for 41 times. And also, he registered 30 Half-centuries alongside one massive unbeaten century of 139*, which came against the tough Australian side. In total, he scored 4164 runs at an average of 47.32.

Ultimate motivation is to play for the country – MS Dhoni
Speaking of number 6 slot, MS Dhoni quoted that staying practical while batting at that position is very important. He wants the batsman to set a target for himself batting down the order, which will help him to score runs for the team. He emphasised that process is very important to achieve the result for the team.
”Ultimate motivation will always be that ‘I am representing my nation India’. Representing India is very easy but when we speak about the process to reach that level from the start of your career is important. You should always be practical and contribute to the team or to the club or to whatever you play. Ultimate goal must be to represent India,” MS Dhoni told ANI.

”You are batting at number 6 and even if you can score only 30 runs then try to get only that because it is very important to have a practical approach. For example, if I scored 25 runs to 30 runs in 15 balls, it is an outstanding performance. But, at the same time, there can be differences. You might be playing for the team to get quick runs or for other reason but practically put your target,” MS Dhoni added.
”In the meantime, you should aware of things which you can control. You should concentrate only on things, which you can control. Process is very important,” Mahendra Singh Dhoni signs off.
Well, it was an interesting analysis from the former skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team. Currently, he is staying away from the team following the semifinal exit from ICC World Cup 2011. After being unavailable for the West Indies tour, South Africa and Bangladesh series, he continued to remain unavailable for the upcoming West Indies series as well.
