MS Dhoni Tests Negative For Covid-19; Cleared To Join CSK's Training Camp At The Chepauk

MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings captain, has tested negative for Covid-19 and he will now be landing in Chennai tomorrow to take part in the one-week training camp.

MS Dhoni had undergone the mandatory Covid-19 test along with pacer Monu Singh on Wednesday. The result of the same were announced on Thursday. The former Indian captain is now cleared to join CSK’S training camp, starting August 15.

According to reports, CSK has arranged a chartered flight for its players to join the camp and the plane will land in Ranchi tomorrow (August 14th).

All the players will undergo another round of testing once they reach Chennai. The training camp at the Chepauk will be more like a bonding session for all the players as they aim to gradually return to peak fitness ahead of the tournament. Barring Ravindra Jadeja, most of the players will take part in the camp.

The contingent will fly to the United Arab Emirates on August 21. The players will undergo another round of testing and will remain in seven-day isolation, following which they will be allowed to commence outdoor practice.

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League [IPL] will kickstart in the UAE from September 19. And, it will be the first time that fans will get to see MS Dhoni on a cricket field after a one year hiatus.

MS Dhoni last played a competitive game in July 2019, post which he went on an extended sabbatical by making himself unavailable for national selection. The former India captain was scheduled to make a comeback to competitive cricket in March and was even practicing for it at the Chepauk but it was eventually postponed due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
