Chennai Super Kings veteran player Suresh Raina would be one of the players under focus in the 13th edition of the IPL. The UAE will play as hosts for this year’s IPL, which has finally begun to take shape after plenty of trials and tribulations. Suresh Raina, who will ply his trade for the yellow army, has opened up on his as well as the team’s preparations for the season.

Amid the nationwide intermittent lockdowns, Suresh Raina has been sweating it out around his residence. The 34-year old has been posting regular videos of his training sessions on Instagram, practising with the likes of Mohammed Shami and Piyush Chawla. With 5368 IPL runs, he is one of the highest run-getters in history and their mainstays.

Suresh Raina revealed that he has been in contact with plenty of his teammates including Deepak Chahar and MS Dhoni, who are practising quite hard indoors. The southpaw conceded that everyone has to put in the hard yards since the game requires plenty of commitment and high fitness level.
“I have been speaking to a lot of the players, everything has been planned. Deepak Chahar has been playing and MS Dhoni is also training hard at his home. Everyone has to do it because this game requires lot of fitness, lot of commitment,” Suesh Raina stated in the Starr Sports’ show Cricket Connected.

The 226-ODI veteran went on to disclose having a camp in the UAE where they will reach 18-20 days before the competition. Suresh Raina feels excited about the tournament since they have stayed under the lockdown for 4-5 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hence is eager to take the field.
The tournament begins on the 19th of September and ends on the 10th of November. Three-time IPL champions CSK ended as the runners-up the previous time, losing to Mumbai Indians by one run.
“We are going to have a camp. We have lots to do, we are going there I think 18-20 days before. It is good to go early because IPL is coming and we have been under lockdown for 4-5 months. So, it is good to be there before IPL and it is going to be exciting,” the Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer added.
