MSK Prasad, chief of India’s selection panel, has hit out at former India cricketer Farokh Engineer for his comments on the selectors and Anushka Sharma. Engineer raised a number of eyebrows while slamming the current selection panel. The legendary wicketkeeper sensationally said that the selectors served tea to India captain Virat Kohli’s wife at the World Cup.

Not only that, Engineer, who played 46 Tests for India, also ridiculed the credentials of India’s five-member selection panel, led by MSK Prasad. The other members of the panel include Sarandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjpe, Gagan Khoda and Devang Gandhi. Engineer called the selection panel “Mickey Mouse selection committee” as he questioned the qualification of the selectors.

“We have got a Mickey Mouse selection committee. Virat Kohli has a major impact (in the process) which is very good. But how are the selectors qualified? Between them, have they played about 10-12 Test matches,” Engineer said.

MSK Prasad has now lashed out at Engineer, saying that the latter derived ‘sadistic pleasure out of indulging in petty talks. He also said that allegations levelled by Engineer were false and frivolous.

“I feel sad for someone deriving sadistic pleasure out of indulging in petty talk, thereby demeaning & disrespecting the selectors and wife of Indian captain through false and frivolous allegations,” MSK Prasad said.

“Let’s not forget that this selection committee has been appointed by BCCI through a proper process in an AGM,” added MSK Prasad.

“Someone at the age of 82 should reflect maturity and enjoy the progress of Indian cricket from his time to the current day.”
