Mumbai Ranji Trophy captain, Aditya Tare, though is missing the Mumbai T20 league as a player, but is still associated with the league in one form.

The Mumbai captain has donned the hat of a commentator and will do the commentary during the league, a report in mid-day suggests.

He was commentating during the opening day of the T20 league and seemed to be enjoying his new role,

“It’s good to do something related to cricket and commenting on the game is good work to do. It’s my first attempt, and I am enjoying it. The atmosphere here seems just like the IPL — players with coloured clothing, good response from the crowd and a good tournament to enjoy for everyone,” he told Mid Day.

Tare went unsold in the Mumbai T20 league auction.

He is suffering from a finger injury which he sustained during the DY Patil Cup.

Although, he will be fit to play IPL later.

He was bought by Mumbai Indians at his base price of Rs 20 Lakh in the second round.

He was a part of Delhi Daredevils in the previous IPL, but could not do well and just scored 18 runs in three games.

He could not open his account on the two occasions.

In total, Tare has played 35 IPL games in which he has scored 339 runs.

He is largely remembered for hitting a six off James Faulkner.

Mumbai Indians needed a boundary of one ball to qualify for the second round of IPL 2014 and Tare hit the much-needed boundary.

The Mumbai captain also has a wealthy experience of playing 61 first-class games.

He has scored 3554 runs at 37.02 in first-class format.

He has also played 48 List A games and has been part of India A in the past.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai T20 league saw stars like Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw playing the opening game.

Shaw though has left the camp to join Rest of India squad for Irani Cup.

Rahane will continue to lead his team, as he is neither a part of the Indian team, nor he is a playing Irani cup.

Rohit Sharma is also a part of the league.

Though, he is only available to play the final, should his team qualify for that game.
