Mumbai Indians are wary about the threat the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain KL Rahul possesses. KL Rahul has been in red-hot form in the IPL 2020 as he has contributed to the fore for KXIP. Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond, ahead of his team’s fixture against KXIP, said that they will try and put pressure on KL Rahul.

Rahul has a good track record against Mumbai Indians. He has performed well against the Mumbai franchise in the previous season as well. Bond, however, mentioned that Rahul takes time in the middle overs and they can use it as an opportunity to the pressure on him.

“KL Rahul has got runs against us in the past, he is a brilliant player. Look we know he is a dynamic player and he scores all through the ground. We also know that he takes his time during the middle overs. So it will be an opportunity for us to create pressure on him if he gets that far in his innings against us. In the end, we cannot allow him to score runs he is strong at,” Shane Bond said at the virtual media conference.

“Look, I think what we are trying to do is adapt to the conditions. When you turn up in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, you have some idea as to how it will play looking at the history, but the fact is that you have to adapt as quick you can, we have a simple theory, we try to bowl seven metres as fast bowling group and 5 metres as a spin-bowling group. We try to keep it simple, and we also try to adjust as soon as we can,” he added.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians are under pressure after getting off to a poor start in the IPL 2020. They have won only one match from the three so far and thus the match against KXIP becomes extremely crucial for them. The Mumbai franchise will also look to overcome the odds as they have a poor track record in UAE.

Mumbai Indians have been the most successful team in IPL history. They have clinched the IPL title four times under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. CSK are the second most successful team with three titles to their name.
