Defending champions and the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians have taken the safety protocols to a completely different level by introducing a special ‘smart ring’.

The ‘smart ring’ is a personal health tracking device whose aim will be to mitigate the silent spread of the virus by flogging the potential asymptomatic symptoms. The ring will be worn by every member of the Mumbai Indians franchise apart from the bluetooth-enabled contact tracing device, provided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI].

‘’The ring picks up a person’s vital data — heart rate, heart rate variation, respiratory rate and body temperature among other details — and then flags any irregular trend in advance so that asymptomatic signals can be spotted at the earliest and dealt with. The ring monitors the person’s pulse, movements and temperature to present a complete picture so that helps in daily analysis. NBA (National Basketball Association) has made use of the similar ring health device,” the source was quoted as saying by ANI.

Mumbai Indians have always set high standards with their performances both on and off the field. Even when the clubs were working out how to deal with the stringest bio-secure measures placed by the BCCI, the Mumbai Indians not only set-up its bio-secure bubble but also ensured that their outstation players join them at the earliest.

The players went through the 14-day mandatory quarantine period and multiple Covid tests and they were also a part of the short training camp held in Navi Mumbai.

‘’We were all covered head to toe, with PPE, mask, face shield and even 3 pairs of gloves. It was absolutely difficult to recognise the person next to you. Quite an experience, but we realised how necessary it was for our own safety. We have families here and there can”t be a safer place than the Mumbai Indians camp. It showcases how much the MI management is invested in the health and safety of its players and staff,” a player told ANI.

The Mumbai Indians recently unveiled a massive 15000 sq ft Team Room, as a recreation center for its players, families and the support staff. The franchise has also built  a 10000 sq ft. gym away from the hotel gymnasium for 24/7 exclusive use by the MI contingent.
