Mumbai T20 League: Sunil Gavaskar Issues Warning To Players Regarding Misconduct

Sunil Gavaskar, the commissioner of Mumbai T20 League, has warned players against any misconduct during the tournament.

The former India batsman said that there would be zero tolerance for any action which brings the game into disrepute,

“There will be zero tolerance for anything that brings the game into disrepute. Its integrity should be maintained at all times. Play the game hard but fair. There should be no animosity between players and there should be respect for the opposition and umpires. You play to win but not at all costs,” he said during the opening ceremony of the T20 league.

Gavaskar is the commissioner of the league and he said these words when the captains of six teams were present on the stage to take the oath.

The opening ceremony of the T20 league took place yesterday (March 10).

The event was attended by Sachin Tendulkar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Ajit Wadekar, former Mumbai players, Mumbai officials and all the members of six teams.

Apart from a message from Gavaskar and Tendulkar, the event also witnessed few stage performances from Bollywood stars.

The T20 league kicked off today (March 11) with ARCS Andheri taking on North Mumbai Panthers.

All the matches of the tournament will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The final of the tournament will be played on March 21.

Stars like Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Abhieshk Nayar will ply their trade during the full phase of the league.

Rohit Sharma and Prithi Shaw will give miss major part of the tournament.

Rohit will only be available to play the final if his team qualifies for the grand finale.

He is currently in Sri Lanka to play Nidahas Trophy.

On the other hand, Shaw is part of Rest of India side for Irani Cup.

He is not available to play until March 19 but could join his side early if the game finishes earlier then scheduled.

Despite the absence of these two, the event is a star-studded affair.

Apart from players, the backroom staff of all teams is studded with former star players.

Zaheer Khan and Vinod Kambli are few of the prominent players in the backroom staff of various teams.

Former players like Milind Rege, Lalchand Rajput, Sandeep Patil and Amol Muzumdar add flavour to the league.

The tournament also has a live telecast as well.

The T20 league is an opportunity for the players not to just make it to the Mumbai team, but also to IPL teams in future.
