Zaheer Khan Appointed Mumbai South's Mentor

Former India fast bowler, Zaheer Khan, has joined Mumbai South as their mentor for  Mumbai T20 League which starts today (March 11).

The former left-arm pacer has performed the same role at Delhi Daredevils camp as well but he was also playing for the team during that period.

He was player and captain cum mentor for Delhi Daredevils during the period he played for the franchise.

This will be the first time when he will don only mentor’s hat.

Zaheer looked all set to play in IPL 2018 as well but he did not put his name for the auction, which made clear that he will not play the T20 tournament.

There were reports that he would rather do commentary and now it is sort of confirmed that he will don the commentator’s hat.

He is currently commentating during Nidahas Trophy as well.

Also, he commentated during team India’s tour of Windies and Sri Lanka last year, which makes it clear that he will spend his time in the commentary box during IPL.

Though, an official announcement is yet to made by the player and broadcasters.

With an experience of 92 Tests and 200 ODIs, Zaheer is the among the most experienced mentors who are a part of different teams in the league.

He retired from international cricket in 2015 but continued to play IPL.

He was also appointed as bowling consultant of Indian team last year but the contract was later pulled.

Amit Dani, former Mumbai and Goa first-class player, is the coach of Mumbai South.

His last first-class game came way back in 2005.

Mumbai South have likes of Abhishek Nayar, Jay Bista, Bhavin Thakkar and Harmeet Singh to name a few.

The franchise will face Mumbai North East today (March 11) in the second game of the day at Wankhede Stadium.
