Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has paid condolences to the family of the security personnel who were martyred in a terrorist attack.

The terror attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday shocked the entire nation.  According to media reports, at least 44 CRPF personnels were killed in a dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. The well-planned attack used a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (known as VBIED) to target a CRPF bus that was part of a 70-vehicle convoy.

The soldiers were on their way to Pulwama through the Srinagar-Jammu highway when a suicide bomber belonging to the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad drove an explosive-laden SUV into the bus. The SUV — a Tata Sumo — was carrying explosives weighing nearly 300 kgs and the bus had 39 jawans on board.

As soon as the SUV hit the bus, it was burst into flames. The site of the Pulwama attack resembled a war zone with body parts and vehicle debris strewn about. The attack is the biggest of its kind in the state.  Terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. A spokesperson of the banned terrorist organisation said “dozens of forces’ vehicles were destroyed in the attack”.

Ever since the attack took place, there has been an outpouring of grief on social media with the cricketing fraternity also doing its bit by reacting to the deadly attack. Spinner Harbhajan Singh was also one of the many cricketers who took to Twitter to pay their tribute to the martyrs.

The World Cup-winning spinner wrote:

“My heart goes out for our Jawans who lost their lives as martyrs to save our country! condolences to all the families who today lost a son, husband, father or brother.. as a nation we cry.. as a nation we unite!”
