At a time when high-scoring games have become a trend in the game, Myanmar and Malaysia have played out a game that looks nothing less than a bizarre. The game witnessed just 20 runs being made in 11.5 overs at a loss of 10 wickets.

While the game at the ICC World T20 Asia Regions Qualifiers in Kuala Lumpur was affected by rain, no one would have expected what was going to unfold.

Asked to bat first, Myanmar were off to a horrible start. They were 2 down for nothing inside the first three balls. Pavandeep Singh first accounted for opener Ko Ko Lin Thu before dismissing Ye Naing Tun to give his side a flying start. Khin Aye and skipper Htet Lin Aung managed to survive four overs before the floodgates opened.

Pavandeep Singh struck again to remove another opener Aye for a duck. Anwar Rahman then removed the skipper for just 2 as Myanmar found themselves 4 down for just three runs on the board.  From there on they lost 3 wickets without adding any run and were reeling at 7 for 6. They were eventually reeling at 9 for 8 in 10. 1 overs before rain brought some-much needed respite for them.

Six batsmen made ducks as Malaysia’s Pavandeep Singh bagged 5 for 1 off his four overs. None of Myanmar’s scoring shots produced more than a single. They scored 6 runs with the bat while the remaining three came from byes.

Chasing a revised target of 6 – in eight overs – Malaysia were off to a disastrous start too. They lost both openers for ducks in the first over. However, Suhan Alagarathnam prevented more collapse by securing the victory with the only boundary of the match, a six.
