Namibia Appoints Pierre de Bruyn as the Head Coach

Namibia has appointed Pierre de Bruyn as their head coach for Men’s senior team. de Bruyn will take charge of the team from 1 January 2019. Pierre de Bruyn was a first class player in South Africa. He went on to play 91 games in the domestic circuit. de Bruyn is set to replace Dee Thakur, who will take up the role of Manager of Development and Age Group Coaching.
Meanwhile, de Bruyn had also coached the young boys of Namibia. He was the Under-19 team coach in 2015. Subsequently, he moved to join Leicestershire at the beginning of 2016 season. He worked with the second XI before moving to the position of assistant coach.
De Bruyn will like to rise Namibia cricket.
In late 2016, de Bruyn went on to replace head coach Andrew McDonald. Consequently, he went on to serve the role for one year after quitting from his position.

“I am very excited to take the role as Head Coach for a national team with such a rich history and tradition,” de Bruyn said.
“It is a country that has the potential to compete with the top Associate teams in the world and I am confident that we can align our vision and goals to reach success. As a former Leicestershire County Head Coach, I have learnt a lot and looking to implement good and clear strategies within the Cricket Namibia pipeline. It is important for me that every young player in Namibia should dream of playing for their country.”

Meanwhile, it is going to be a good opportunity for Namibia to learn and grow from Pierre de Bruyn who has a good experience under his belt. Hence, de Bruyn will also like to give his insights to the Namibian team.
