Former India cricketer and commentator, Navjot Singh Sidhu remains in hot waters over his controversial remarks on Pulwama attack. On February 14th, 42 CRPF jawans were killed on a highway when a jeep, carrying nearly 300 kgs of explosives, ran into an Army convoy. As India got fumed over such a heinous attack on the militants; Sidhu said one country could not get blamed for terrorism. In other words, he appeared to have defended Pakistan even after Jaish-eh-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attacks.
“For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?” Sidhu said after the Pulwama attack.

Sidhu faces repercussions; gets sacked from Kapil Sharma show
After what Navjot Singh Sidhu said post the Pulwama attacks, he fell at the receiving end of the things. Not only the members of the ruling party but also the social media whacked Sidhu for his insensitive comments. The SONY Channel and the producers of the Kapil Sharma show were under immense pressure to take strict action against him; as a result, they sacked Sidhu of his post with immediate effect as per a report in the Indian Express. Meanwhile, Archana Puran Singh has replaced him.
Sidhu provides clarification
The ex-cricketer said his comments were taken out of the context. Sidhu added he wanted the terrorism to end, as the Army personals have been suffering such attacks for 70 years now.
“I was only saying that we need to find a permanent solution to the problem of terrorism. Why should soldiers be made to suffer each time? Such attacks have been happening for the last 70 years,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Sidhu further added terrorism doesn’t have a religion or a nationality, and it should be all, but destroyed completely. Also, he expressed his concerns over the security of the militants in Jammu & Kashmir.
