England head coach Trevor Bayliss stated that England opener Keaton Jennings will be anxious to know whether he will be part of the scheme of things for the Three Lions’ in the next month’s tour of Sri Lanka.
However, his ability to bat on spinning wickets might work in his favour. Jennings scored a magnificent century in his Test debut against India at iconic Wankhede in Mumbai. However, former English skipper Nasser Hussain believes Jennings should not be picked for the Lankan tour.
The southpaw averages a shade over 18 in their series victory by a 4-1 margin against India. He has never scored a Test century since his debut knock in Mumbai back in 2016.
The southpaw played brilliantly in his debut Test innings. He looked in great touch and played some exceptional shots against the spinners.
Even in the final Test of the recently concluded series, he proved his worth with two good knocks. However, he couldn’t quite go onto score the half-century or century at the top of the order.

Keaton Jennings will have a nervous wait says, Keaton Jennings
“I’m sure he will be a bit nervous about which way it will go. He scored runs in India on spinning wickets, and I’m sure that will be in his favour,” British media quoted Bayliss as saying.
“But he is a big boy. He knows runs on the board count as well. All of those points will have to be discussed, and I can’t say at this stage or another whether he will go or not,” he remarked.
England will miss the services of Alastair Cook after the 33-year-old opening batsman decided to call it quits from international cricket following the final Test against India at the Kennington Oval in London.
Cook struck a sensational century in his farewell knock which paved the way for a historic Test victory for England.

England is slated to play five ODI’s and a solitary T20I before the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka starting from 6th November. The fate of Keaton Jennings will come to the fore soon.
In conclusion, the England team will be a bit worried about their batting department as the top and the middle order wasn’t at their best in the Test series against India.
