Danish Kaneria have been all over the news from the last few days thanks to a sensational revelation by his former Pakistan teammate Shoaib Akhtar. The former Pakistan speedster revealed that Danish Kaneria faced discrimination inside the dressing room because of being a Hindu. Akhtar sensationally revealed that some players were not even ready to have food together with the ex leg-spinner.
He also said that Danish Kaneria never got the credit for his performances. The former cricketer, who was later banned for life for spot-fixing charges, is the fourth highest wicket-taker for Pakistan, having picked up 261 wickets. No other Pakistan spinner has picked up more Test wickets than Danish Kaneria.
Kaneria later backed Akhtar and said that his teammate was right about the allegations. Unsurprisingly, the statements from Danish Kaneria and Akhtar drew reaction from several former Pakistan players. The likes of Inzamam-ul-Haq and Javed Miandad slammed the spinner as well as Akhtar for their comment with the latter even saying that Kaneria could do anything for money.
Danish Kaneria hits back:
On Saturday, Danish Kaneria took to his YouTube channel to speak on the recent matter. He posted an emotional video as he revealed his side of the story and how he gave it all for Pakistan cricket. Kaneria hit back at Miandad, saying that he didn’t make any allegations that he faced discrimination due to him being a Hindu and it was Shoaib Akhtar who claimed it.
He also pointed out that he has been unemployed for nearly a decade while reminding everyone that he always gave his hundred per cent while playing for Pakistan. Kaneria also hit back at those who accused him of using the opportunity to open his YouTube channel.
“To those who are saying I did this for cheap fame and for my Youtube channel, I want to remind them that I did not do it, Shoaib Akhtar spoke about discrimination against me on national television,” Danish Kaneria said.
“You have cut off my hands and feet. I have not been employed for so long. What else do you want? Should I finish myself off?” Kaneria added.

Dig at match-fixers:
While Danish Kaneria did not take any name, he took a dig at those players who fixed matches for money. Kaneria said that those match-fixers have been welcomed back in the national team. He also added that he never sold his country for money.
“People are saying I played for Pakistan for 10 years. But I played for 10 years at the cost of my blood. I gave blood to the cricket pitch. I kept bowling even when my fingers bled. There are people who have sold their country and who are still welcomed in the team. I never sold my country for money,” he said.
