New Zealand Players To Go Into Self-Isolation After Returning From Australia

The New Zealand cricket team has been asked to self-isolate for the next 14 days after returning midway from an ODI tour of Australia due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Kiwis and Kangaroos had to play a three-match ODI series.

Australia won the first match of the series by 71 runs. The second and third ODIs were due to be played but both the boards decided to call off the tour.

The Prime Minister advised all returning travellers to self-isolate for two weeks amid the COVID-19 outbreak, even if they arrived in the country before Sunday night’s cut-off.

New Zealand Players To Go In Self-Isolation Amid Coronavirus

“They [Black Caps players and touring staff] have all gone into self-isolation. We’ve passed on all the details about what self-isolation means and as far as we know they’re all following it strictly,” stuff.co.nz quoted NZC public affairs manager, Richard Boock, as saying.

NZC’s Auckland headquarters will have a trial self-isolation day on Friday where staff will work from home, Boock said.

Major Cricketing Events Come To A Hold After Coronavirus

Recently, the IPL 2020 has been postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak. To the disappointment of the cricket fans, the India-South Africa ODI series has also been called off.

Apart from it, the Road Safety World Series has also been suspended.

All the English players playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been called back immediately and the tournament has been postponed.
