New Zealand players have been fined 60 percent of their match-fee for slow over-rate during the 2nd ODI against India at Auckland. The Tom Latham-led side were found to be three overs behind the standard time. Match referee Chris Broad imposed the penalty, with time allowance taken into consideration.

There was no need for a formal hearing as Latham pleaded guilty to the offence. On-field umpires Chris Brown and Bruce Oxenford, third umpire Langton Rusere and fourth umpire John Dempsey were involved in leveling the charges upon the Blackcaps.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

The hosts though, won’t be too gutted as they sealed the ODI series with one game to go. Ross Taylor’s 73* was well supported by a gutsy run-a-ball 79 from opener Martin Guptill. However, there was a slight hiccup. From 142/1, New Zealand were floored to 197/8. But debutant Kyle Jamieson’s 25* in the company of Taylor took the side to 273/8 in their allotted 50 overs.
Kiwis snatch a win from India at Auckland, seal the series
The men in blue were restricted to 71/4 at one stage but fifties from Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja took the side very close to the target. A cameo from Navdeep Saini gave India a realistic chance to level the series but the Kiwis hit back right on time to snatch a win.

Skipper Latham didn’t pay much heed to the over-rate issue and went on to praise his boys. He lauded debutant Jamieson’s efforts, who played a good knock and scalped a couple of wickets.
We’ve had some close games with India, delighted to get the win. It was just about juggling, Tim was struggling with illness as well. That epitomises the team. Kyle on debut was fantastic. Delighted for him.
