New Zealand has returned to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC T20I Team Rankings after beating Windies 2-0 in a three-match series.
New Zealand went into the series against the Windies in third place behind Pakistan (124 points) and India (121 points) on 120 points. India moved ahead of India after beating the visitors in the first T20Is and decimated Pakistan from the top spot after registering a 119 runs victory in the second T20I.
New Zealand is now on 126 points, while the Windies have slipped from 120 points to 115 points in the fifth position.
Previously, New Zealand was at No one position in October 2017 before their series loss to India.
New Zealand will now put their ranking at stake when they face Pakistan on a three-match series schedule. The matches are scheduled to be played on 22, 25 and 28 January.
New Zealand needs to beat Pakistan 2-1 or better to retain their top spot. New Zealand’s failure to win the series will see Pakistan back at the top.
