As a result, Mahmudullah got fined 15% while Boult was slapped a 20% fine. Though the issues were separate for both of them, demerit points got added to their disciplinary records. Meanwhile, New Zealand clinched the three-match ODI series in Christchurch; winning the second ODI by eight wickets. Martin Guptill, who scored a hundred in the first ODI, slammed his 16th ton in the second game as well.
Boult, Mahmudullah in hot waters
Bangladesh star player, Mahmudullah was found guilty breaching Article 2.2 of ICC’s Code of Conduct; which relates to ‘abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international game’. On the other hand, Boult violated Article 2.3 which deals with the ‘use of an audible obscenity during an international match.’

Mahmudullah, while leaving the ground after getting out hit the picket fence with his bat. Whereas, Boult was heard using obscene words twice during New Zealand’s bowling. As both the players pleaded guilty and accepted the sanctions imposed on them, there was no need for an official hearing.
New Zealand aim to finish ODIs on high
Bangladesh tour is New Zealand’s last series in their lead up to the 2019 World Cup. In their quest to gain as much match practice as possible, the Kiwis have put a right foot forward. After India decimated them in the ODIs at home, a series win over fighting Bangladesh was needed. As they have now won two of the three games, the hosts would want to inflict a whitewash.
Meanwhile, the final match of the series is scheduled for Wednesday (February 20th) in Dunedin. Kane Williamson, the New Zealand skipper, will be on the pre-planned rest, as Tom Latham will lead the team in his absence.
