The team badly missed his services in the middle order during the third ODI.
New Zealand failed to chase down an easy target of 235 in 50 overs.
Kane Williamson was the only man in the middle order who stood up with his innings of 112*.
The other batsmen from the middle order failed, and it was an innings of 41 from Mitchel Santner which brought Kiwis close to England’s total.
In the end, though, the home side failed, mainly due to middle-order failures.
Had Taylor been fit for the game, he would have provided the much-needed solidity to New Zealand.
Taylor’s return will bolster New Zealand’s chances for the fourth game.
He is most likely to replace Mark Chapman, who has just scored nine runs in two ODIs.
The fourth ODI of the series will be played at University Oval ground in Dunedin.

If England wins the game, they will also win the series as they are currently 2-1 in the five-match ODI series.
A win for New Zealand in the fourth ODI will keep the series alive, and the fifth ODI will be the decider.
A win will help England win their first series on tour.
They failed to qualify for the finals of the T20I tri-series, having lost three out of four T20Is.
New Zealand also lost the same number of losses but played the final by better NRR than England.
A defeat for New Zealand in the fourth ODI will mean a defeat in the last ODI series of the season.
After the completion of the ODI series, both the teams will face each other in two Tests.
The first Test of the series will be played from March 22 to 26 at Eden Park in Auckland.
The last Test will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch from March 30 to April 3.
