New Zealand vs India 2020: 5 Indian Players To Watch Out In Test Series; The upcoming Test series against New Zealand is going to be a massive series for India, especially, after suffering whitewash in three-match ODI series. The Virat Kohli-led side would like to give it back with wins in the impending Test series, which will strengthen the team when it comes to the points table for the ICC World Test Championship.

India are jolted with the injuries to the key players like Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who can be very useful in the swinging conditions of New Zealand.

However, India got a brilliant bench strength to replace them in the playing XI to get the better of New Zealand.

Meanwhile, we figured out five players to watch out during the Test series.

Five Indian Players To Watch Out For in the New Zealand Test Series:

5. Jasprit Bumrah:

India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah had a remarkable past couple of years. He has proved his worth in all formats of the game. His consistency is what makes him a completely different bowler from the rest.

Surprisingly, he failed to deliver in the ODI series and he would like to make a strong comeback to shut all his critics.

Last time when Jasprit Bumrah appeared for India in Test match, he wreaked havoc against West Indies with his accuracy. He also managed to pick a hat-trick to his name and finished the game with man of the match award.

But unfortunately, he sustained an injury in the next series to stay away from the game for four months before making his comeback in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.

Surprisingly, he couldn’t make a similar impact on the game since his return to the game. He hopes for a turnaround in the red-ball format, especially with the conditions helping the fast bowlers.

4. Shubman Gill:

The calf injury of Rohit Sharma has opened the door for Shubman Gill, who looks certain to make his Test debut. Gill’s temperament and the rich vein of form haven’t gone unnoticed. The team management has been impressed by the way he has shaped up after becoming a part of the Test squad in the series against South Africa and Bangladesh.

Shubman had scores of 83 and 204 not out batting in middle-order in the first ‘A’ Test and then scored a hundred opening in the second game, showing his versatility at different slots.

However, he was dismissed for a duck in the 3-day practice game. Still, the flamboyant batsman had already made his impact in the cricketing world with his batting heroics. All in all, it would be interesting to see how the youngster fares for India.

3. Mayank Agarwal:

A big concern for the Indian side is in the form of Mayank Agarwal who hasn’t been able to get going in New Zealand so far. While Agarwal had a debut to forget in the ODI series against the Kiwis, the opener scored a couple of ducks in the first unofficial Test. It was followed by another failure in the 3-day practice game.

However, Mayank Agarwal had done exceptionally well in the past to start in the playing XI at Wellington. He had brilliant series against South Africa and Bangladesh scoring centuries on a regular basis.

With Rohit Sharma staying away from the team with injury, the onus will be on Mayank Agarwal to give a good start to India.

2. Cheteshwar Pujara:

Whenever India travels abroad, one of the main persons, who will hold the fort for India is Cheteshwar Pujara. The number three batsman of India has got the calibre to make things fall in place for the team and this time, it would be no different. With Rohit Sharma being unavailable, Cheteshwar Pujara will have to carry the burden on his shoulders.

Pujara will be a key player if India are to achieve success in New Zealand conditions, as he continues to do the thankless job of guarding the middle-order against the new ball.

With a more mature head on his shoulders and a tweaked technique, it would come as a surprise to no one if he scored runs by the barrel.

1. Virat Kohli:

Well, it doesn’t matter which format or opposition, the skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team Virat Kohli takes the limelight without much fuss.

The flamboyant batsman is India’s run machine and he would like to make things happen once again for the team against tough New Zealanders.

Surprisingly, he failed to score a century in the ODI series against the same opposition but Kohli would like to add those runs in the upcoming Tests to deliver a big knock for the team. His captaincy will also be the focal point during the series, as India are yet to lose a single Test ever since they started their campaign for ICC World Test Championship.
