Virat Kohli added yet another feather to his cap as captain as he led India to their first-ever T20I series win in New Zealand. India beat the Black Caps in a thrilling third T20I to wrap up the series. Rohit Sharma was the star of the show as he hit two sixes off the final two balls in the super over to help India chase 17.
Asked to bat first, India posted 179 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. The Men in Blue looked set to post over 200 with the way Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started as the openers added 89 runs in just 9 overs. However, once Rahul was dismissed, India could not carry on in the same manner.

The visitors lost wickets at crucial junctures which eventually dented their chances of posting a total close to 200. In reply, New Zealand finished on 179 on 6. With one run needed from the final ball, Ross Taylor was castled by Mohammed Shami. Kane Williamson impressed with the bat for the hosts, scoring 95.
Speaking after the game, Virat Kohli lavished praise on his deputy Rohit Sharma, saying that the opening batsman was superb. Virat Kohli also admitted that at one stage India had given up their hopes of winning the game. He also said that Washington Sundar and Navdeep Saini could get a chance in the remaining two games.
“I thought we were gone at one stage. I told our coach that they deserved to win. On the last ball, we had a discussion and we came to a conclusion that we had to hit the stumps. Rohit was superb for us. When Shami bowled those two dot balls, I thought we can go to super over. In the super over, Kane came out and smashed Bumrah who is one of best death over bowler in World Cricket. There are a couple of guys who are sitting out like Sundar and Saini, they deserve to get a game,” said Virat Kohli.
