Even A Neighbourhood Kid Will Tell You That The Pakistan Coaches Are Providing Wrong Guidance- Mohammad Asif

Former Pakistan seamer Mohammad Asif has taken a dig at the national team’s current coaching panel. Pakistan’s current coaching unit has the likes of Younis Khan, Misbah-Ul-Haq, and Waqar Younis – who serve as the batting coach, head coach, and bowling coach respectively. According to Mohammad Asif, all three have zero abilities as a coach.

Pakistan’s coaching unit has been under criticism for some time now, especially their head coach, Misbah-Ul-Haq for his outdated techniques and their inability to get the best out of players. Under the former Pakistan captain, the results have also not been as encouraging as the national team performed underwhelmingly in Australia and England. Pakistan, who are currently touring New Zealand, have lost the three-match T20I series while trailing the two-match Test rubber by 1-0.

While Mohammad Asif respects Waqar Younis as a player, he believes that his ability as a coach is nil. As far as Younis Khan’s case goes, Asif labelled him as a massive player and Misbah-Ul-Haq as an okay cricketer. Nevertheless, when it comes to coaching, the 38-year old had a common view that their skills are zero.

“No doubt Shoaib bhai used to bowl fast and my attempt was to pitch the ball up to get the batsmen out. As a coach, if you ask me Waqar Younis is zero. He was great as a player. I have respect for him as a player. The three guys who are associated to the team currently – Younis bhai was a big player but he does not have any knowledge as a coach. Misbah is totally zero, as a player he was okay,” Asif told Kamran Akmal during an interaction in the latter’s Youtube channel.

The Punjab-born former seamer further said that having watched a couple of videos on the PCB website, he feels that even a neighbourhood kid could better advise them. Mohammad Asif refused to question their credibilities as players as Younis and Misbah have a truckload of runs.

“I have seen a couple of videos on the PCB website. Even a neighbourhood kid will tell you that he is telling the wrong thing. I am not talking about his credibility as a player. He has scored 10000 runs as a player, Misbah has also scored runs,” he added.
