Royal Challengers Bangalore showcased a much-improved performance than the case had been since the last three editions. The Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the playoffs in IPL 2020 for the first time since 2016 and lost to SunRisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator. The three-time finalists had more often the same issue at their disposal – the overdependence on AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli in the batting department.

The Bangalore-based franchise had hoped for Aaron Finch to come good; however, he yielded disappointing returns, fetching a hefty amount of INR 4.4 crores. On the bright side, Devdutt Padikkal’s emergence and him amassing a truckload of runs was the biggest positive. The southpaw, who played his first IPL season, accumulated 473 runs in 15 matches at 31.53 with five fifties. Their focus in IPL 2021 auction would be a power-hitter in the middle-overs to get the load off Kohli and De Villiers’ shoulders.
