IPL 2021 Auction: K Gowtham Sold To Chennai Super Kings For INR 9.25 Crores

Krishnappa Gowtham is a highly promising prospect as far as a spin-bowling all-rounder is concerned, having played for multiple franchises in IPL. The 32-year old was part of Kings XI Punjab last year; however, he could not make an impact for them. He featured in two matches and took one wicket apart from scoring 42 runs while maintaining a strike rate of 155.56. Hence, Kings XI Punjab, who languished at the bottom of the table already, decided to release him.

Krishnappa Gowtham’s best season came in 2018 with the Rajasthan Royals when he scored 126 runs in 14 matches while keeping a strike rate of 196.88 and taking 11 wickets at 28.36 with an economy rate of 7.80. Nevertheless, Gowtham did not have a promising season for Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy edition of 2021. However, stunningly, the veteran cricketer got bids from Chennai Super Kings and was pouched by them.
