IPL 2021 Auction: Mujeeb Ur Rahman Sold To SunRisers Hyderabad For INR 1.5 Crores

After being with Kings XI Punjab since 2018, the franchise let go of Mujeeb Ur Rahman following a disappointing IPL 2020. A lesser-known Mujeeb Ur Rahman proved as a smart pick for Kings XI Punjab in 2018 as he took 14 wickets in 11 matches at 20.63 while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.69. Ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, the off-spinner has set his base price at INR 1.5 crores.

However, since then his performances have been deflating in the extravaganza. The 19-year old, who holds the number two position in T20I rankings, took only three wickets combining the 12th and 13th editions of IPL. The 2020 season of IPL saw the off-spinner playing two matches and claim no victims as Kings XI Punjab stood sixth in the points table.

Nevertheless, Mujeeb Ur Rahman roared back to form in the latest edition of Big Bash League 2020-21, plying his trade for the Brisbane Heat. The teen prodigy battled the ongoing Coronavirus successfully and took 14 wickets in eight matches at 13.42 while his economy rate was an excellent 6.26. Thus, such performances could be precisely  what he needs to put him in the radar of the IPL franchises. While Rahman might not be a genuine wicket-taker, he is capable of delivering economic spells, especially in the powerplay overs or with the new ball.
