Nidahas Trophy 2018: Bangladesh Fans Slam Sunil Gavaskar For Doing 'Snake Dance'

The final of the Nidahas Trophy ended in a heartbreaking manner for Bangladesh and their cricket-crazy fans. The Tigers were looking destined to stun India after Mustafizur Rahman bowled a maiden 18th over. That over had left India with a uphill task as they needed 34 off the last 2 overs.

However, what followed thereafter left almost everyone shell shocked. Dinesh Karthik ran riot with the bat, scoring 29 off just 8 balls to guide India to a miraculous win. He started the 19th over by hitting two sixes and a four off the first three balls. The last ball was also hit for a four as India collected 22 runs off the penultimate over. In the end, the equation came down to 5 off 1 balls. Karthik then launched Soumya Sarkar over sweeper cover for a maximum to win the game in a stunning manner.

And to rub salt on the Bangladeshis, almost the whole stadium did the ‘snake dance’ to celebrate India’s win. The snake dance caught everyone’s attention after Mushfiqur Rahim broke into it following the record win against Sri Lanka.

And amidst all these, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar also broke into an impromptu dance when India was in command against Bangladesh in the final. Surprising all, the cricketing legend replicated the Nagin pose for his fellow commentators.

Not surprisingly, the Bangladeshi fans were not very impressed with the legendary player’s gesture. They took to Twitter to slam Gavaskar.

Here are some of the reactions from the fans:
