India fast-bowler Umesh Yadav has revealed his ideal Test XI from the current Indian team. With no action going around at the moment due to the pandemic, cricketers around the globe are trying out different activities on social media to keep themselves busy.

While some are doing live sessions on Instagram, some are busy with Q-A sessions on Twitter. And like many others, Umesh Yadav decided to name his ideal Test XI. The fast-bowler started with a controversial move by not naming Rohit Sharma as the opener of the team.

He named Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul as the two openers. Umesh Yadav then named Rohit Sharma at number three. Rohit was promoted as Test opener last year during the home series against South Africa and he made an immediate impact by scoring a century and a double century. On the other hand, Rahul has lost his place in the Test team.

“Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, in my opinion, should come back into the side,” Umesh Yadav said during an Instagram chat with Sportskeeda.

“Then, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja,” he added.

For the wicketkeeper’s role, Umesh Yadav went for Wriddhiman Saha over Rishabh Pant. He said that Saha is the better wicketkeeper before backing Pant to learn and become a better wicketkeeper.

“As for the wicketkeeper, it is very tough to choose between Wriddhiman Saha and Rishabh Pant. But, as a wicketkeeper, there is no doubt that Saha is better. Pant is still young and he has a lot to learn but he has the talent,” justified Umesh Yadav.

The India star then named three fast-bowlers in the team, saying:

“My ideal XI would consist of three of the four fast bowlers [Bumrah, Ishant, Shami and me].”

Umesh Yadav’s ideal India Test XI:

Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
