Gone are those days when the Indian National Cricket Team had the problems with their bowling attack, especially, in the Test format of the game. However, everything changed for Indian cricket at present with the emergence of quality fast bowlers. The current statistics reveal that the modern fast bowling attack is the best-ever for India.
And also, the current strike-rate of the Indian fast bowler is the best in International Cricket for the last 67 years. It shows the impact of the fast bowlers for the Virat Kohli-led side, who are staying at top of the ICC Charts for a while now. As a unit, they average 15.16 and this is the best for any team in any calendar year in the last 67 years.
Those stats are the best collective pace bowling average for India in any calendar year in their Test history. The strike rate of India’s pacers in 2019 is 31 and this the best amongst all the teams. Australian pacers, with a strike rate of 46.6, are a distant second. Also, it is the best pace bowling strike rate for India in any calendar year in their Test history.
Everything happens with time – Virat Kohli
Speaking of the same, Virat Kohli quoted that he is pretty happy to see Indian bowlers performing well in Test format of the game. He stated that all the fast bowlers of India have improved with the time to stand where they are at present.
“Everything happens with time. They have gained more experience and now they are bowling well together. Now they take ownership of their training, their fitness and everything. Shami was already in the system when I became captain, Ishant had played 4-5 years of Test cricket, Bhuvi was in the system, Umesh also came into Test cricket in 2012, Bumrah is a late addition but he has blended in very well too,” Virat Kohli said.
The Indian national cricket team never got the better bowling lineup than the current unit. The bunch of bowlers have been quite impressive on overseas tours and always did their best to get the better of the opposition. Even in the spin conditions, fast bowlers excelled to deliver for India.
