As the hashtag ‘ISupportKagisoRabada’ was the most trending one on Twitter, the cricketing fraternity began to pour in their sympathies on the South African spearhead post his two-match ban.
England pacer James Anderson also addressed the issue of pace bowlers being provided relaxation for their expression of emotions. As a matter of fact, Anderson could relate to what Kagiso Rabada must be going through right now.
Having said that, the English stalwart believes there must be a line which must not be crossed, and one should try to curb their emotions as much as possible.
“There’s definitely got to be a place for emotion. I’ve certainly been there and done it, the thing is you have to control it the best you can. Sometimes it is hard, especially in the heat of the moment in a big series, if you get an important wicket,” revealed James Anderson according to Espncricinfo.
Anderson, himself had his fair share of controversies in his career. Australian captain Steven Smith rated Anderson as ‘one of the biggest sledgers ever’ during the recently concluded Ashes series.
“Of course there’s a line, bowlers do know what that line is. At times it’s such a strange feeling. I’ve watched myself back and watched me take a wicket and seen how I’ve celebrated and thought ‘what am I doing?” added Anderson.
I’m not excusing misbehaving on the field: Jimmy Anderson
“It’s literally one of those things, the build-up of emotion where you are trying so hard to get a wicket and win a game and this emotion just comes out as a big release,” elucidated the highest wicket-taker for England.
In conclusion, the seventh-ranked bowler in terms of international wickets reckons there shall not be any room for misconduct in cricket.
“It can feel like an out-of-body experience at times. I’m not excusing behaving badly on the field, I’m just saying I can understand what does happen to bowlers when they show that emotion,” explained the Lancashireman.
