Rohit Sharma has dedicated his third double century in ODI cricket to his wife. The Indian skipper said that this was a was which she (his wife) would also like,

“I am sure she would have liked this gift from me. I dedicate this knock to her as she is my strength and keeps supporting me; it was the perfect day. This is one good part about having your family around, we already go through a lot of stress in this sport and it makes our lives easier. She has been doing it for the last two years,” said Rohit.

Incidentally, the pair is celebrating their second marriage anniversary and it couldn’t get better than this. At one stage,  in no case,  Rohit Sharma was looking like reaching his third double century as he reached the 100 run mark on 115th delivery that he faced.

From there,  his innings took an upward lift, and he scored his next 108 runs in just 38 deliveries that he faced to bring third ODI double century of his career. The highlight of the innings was his four consecutive sixes off Suranga Lakmal in the 44th over of the game.

Rohit was well supported by opener Shikhar Dhawan (68) and number three batsman, Shreyas Iyer as well who played an innings of 87. Dhawan and Rohit shared 115 runs for the first wicket to lay a strong base.

The flow was carried on by the captain and Iyer as they shared 113 runs for the next wicket.  The only way Sri Lanka could have chased the total was by getting a start just like the home side had, but this wasn’t the case.
