One Person Does Not Change Anything - Gautam Gambhir on Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul's Absence

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have decided to suspend disgraced Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul in the wake of their controversial statement on a talk show. While many believed Pandya should feature in the ICC World Cup, former Indian National Cricket team player Gautam Gambhir believes one person does not change anything.

Meanwhile, there has been a social media uproar since the episode from Koffee With Karan hosted by Karan Johar went air. After the controversy it garnered, digital broadcasting platform Hotstar decided to bring it down from their website. However, CoA is yet to take a call on the quantum of punishment; it is likely to announce it soon.

However, Gautam Gambhir feels even if Hardik Pandya doesn’t feature in the playing XI, the core of the side doesn’t change. He also admitted that he would prefer Ambati Rayudu over KL Rahul as the former did exceptionally well against the Windies.

“One person does not change anything. The core still remains the same. KL Rahul wasn’t even there in the playing XI because we had Rayudu who did fabulously well against West Indies, so he deserved a chance before Rahul in the one-day format,” Gambhir said at an event program in Bengaluru.

In addition to, Gautam Gambhir feels India have found a perfect replacement for Hardik Pandya in place of Ravindra Jadeja. Moreover, he also added Virat Kohli & Co should maintain consistency and go with the same team before the World Cup.

Yes Hardik Pandya [might have made a difference], but you’ve replaced him with Ravindra Jadeja, who again is an allrounder. We only have, what, ten ODIs left before the World Cup? So we should maintain consistency and give people who are going to play the first game of the World Cup these ten games and see how they deliver,” he added.
